Google's Page Layout Algorithm Improvement

Posted by webarcher on January 26, 2012

Last week, Google launched an algorithm change directly targeting ad heavy websites. Their blog post can be referenced here.

The intent with this most recent change in the algorithm was to cut out websites that display too many ads above the fold (the content you see without scrolling down). According to Google, this will impact less than one in 100 searches.

Google continues to encourage SEOs and website owners to deliver the best possible user experience. It goes without saying, but user experience suffers when webpages are littered with ads.

Short and sweet today, but we’d love to get your feedback. Have you seen any difference since last week’s update?

Google has yet again porved that it's algorithms are nearly impossible to understand for outsiders. The 60 rank penalty seems a far too severe punishment for paid links.

Google has never been God, it used to be Good, now its not even that with all the greed it has dleevoped for user's private data with the introduction of GoogleDocs, GoogleWave, GoogleBuzz and so on .
